It’s hard to keep Santosh Soban away from action these days. The budding actor’s thriller-comedy Like, Share & Subscribe, in which he shared screenspace alongside Faria Abdullah, hit theatres in November and released on OTT via Sony LIV. Another romantic comedy, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam, stormed screens this Sankranthi and his family entertainer, Sridevi Shoban Babu, is coming to theatres tomorrow i.e. February 18.
Meanwhile, Sridevi Shoban Babu isn’t the only reason why Santosh Soban will hog the limelight this weekend. His Sankranthi release, Kalayanam Kamaneeyam, whose digital rights were acquired by leading OTT platform aha, is now out on the streamer. While the light-hearted entertainer opened to decent reviews upon release in theatres, it couldn’t prove its might at the box office. The OTT release gives the film another chance to impress a wider range of viewers.
Directed by Anil Kumar Aalla, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam is backed by UV Concepts, another division of the leading banner UV Creations. Shravan Bharadwaj has scored the music for the film. While Priya Bhavani Shankar made her Telugu debut with the project, it also starred Devi Prasad, Kedar Shankar and Pavitra Lokesh in key roles. Raveendar handled production design for the film which had cinematography by Karthik Gattamneni and was edited by Satya G.
His theatrical release, Sridevi Shoban Babu, bankrolled by Gold Box Entertainment (founded by Chiranjeevi’s daughter Sushmita Konidela and her husband Vishnu Prasad), is the first for Jaanu, 96 girl Gouri Kishan in a lead role. Naga Babu, Rohini essayed supporting roles in the film directed by Prasanth Kumar Dimmala. Kamran had scored the music for the entertainer, which has cinematography by Siddarth Ramaswamy and is edited by Shashidhar Reddy.
It’s a crucial weekend for Santosh, given he’s yet to deliver a theatrical success post the release of Ek Mini Katha, that premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video.
