It's official. The feel-good children's drama Erumbu is all set to drop on Amazon Prime Video on July 31. The digital rights of the film have been acquired by Dhananjayan's Creative Entertainment. Taking to his social media handle, Dhananjayan wrote, "The most loved film #Erumbu by Dir. @sureshamy31to be released in #AmazonPrime on 31st July by @creativeent4 Revisit your childhood (sic)."
The film, directed by G Suresh, has child artistes Monica Siva and Sakthi Rithvik in the lead. The plot revolves around Muthu (Sakthi), a 9-year-old boy who loses his stepmother's ring. With the help of his elder sister Pachaiamma (Monica) and a friend (George Maryan), he goes in search of the lost ring and hopes to find it before his stepmom is back in town. They try to earn enough money to save themselves. Will the trio be able to find the ring before the family arrives? Actor Charlie plays their father.
Erumbu is set in the backdrop of Kattumannarkoil near Aranthangi. The film also stars MS Bhaskar, Susan George, Paravai Sundarambal and Jagan. The plot also revolves around the brother-sister bond and is laced with family sentiments. It also shows the great lengths the siblings go to protect each other and their relentless pursuit. The film also revolves around the grit and determination of the two children and their air of positivity.

The director had stated during the promotions that the reason he titled the film, Erumbu, was because the children in the film had too much weight on their shoulders, just like elephants.
While the music is scored by Arun Raj, cinematography is by KS Kalidass and editing is by Thiyagarajan M. Erumbu opened to positive reviews in theatres and was lauded by the critics and audience. The film is bankrolled by Suresh Gunasekaran.
