Millie Bobby Brown has consistently been in the headlines for a wide range of reasons. Whether it’s Stranger Things, her personal life, or her ventures as a producer, she continues to stay in the spotlight. While fans eagerly await the release of Stranger Things Season 5 — one of the most anticipated shows of the year globally — there's also significant excitement around other projects involving Brown. One of the most anticipated is Enola Holmes 3. The film, which marked Millie’s debut as a producer, is now entering its third installment, and fans have been waiting for news about its production and release. After a long silence, the makers have not only confirmed that the movie is in production, but also that it's being directed by Adolescence fame Philip Barantini.
Yes, you read that right. It was reported last year that Enola Holmes 3 would take a darker turn, much like the evolution seen in the Harry Potter series. The producers were reportedly impressed by Philip Barantini’s pitch for the film. At the time, not many were familiar with Barantini’s style, but his Netflix hit Adolescence now gives audiences a glimpse into his creative approach. He is now helming Millie Bobby Brown’s third detective saga.
According to Screen Daily, the third installment of the Sherlock Holmes spin-off has begun filming in the UK. Enola Holmes 2 was shot at Shepperton Studios, while the original 2020 film was filmed at Pinewood Studios. For the final weeks of production, the makers are reportedly planning to move filming to Malta. While Henry Cavill, Louis Partridge, and Helena Bonham Carter are rumored to be returning, there has been no official confirmation as of yet.
Although plot details for Enola Holmes 3 remain under wraps, reports suggest that it was Philip Barantini’s darker interpretation of the story that won over the studio. It’s said that the third installment will bring a tonal shift to the franchise — much like how Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban transformed the Harry Potter series. This creative shift ultimately led Netflix to bring Barantini on board to take the franchise forward.
A report from Deadline last year also confirmed that Mary Parent, Ali Mendes, and Alex Garcia will produce Enola Holmes 3 for Legendary Entertainment. Millie Bobby Brown and her sister Paige Brown will produce under their banner, PCMA Productions. Jake Bongiovi and Isobel Richards have joined as executive producers for the company. However, there’s still no word on whether Henry Cavill will return as Sherlock Holmes.
Enola Holmes 3 is currently in production. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
