Empuraan Trailer out! Mohanlal returns as savior as Prithviraj Sukumaran promises a riveting thriller

The Empuraan trailer is out! Prithviraj Sukumaran has finally unveiled the trailer of Empuraan, hours earlier than promised. But hey, no one is complaining! The nearly 3-minute-50-second video runs us through the chaotic events that are set to unfold in Empuraan, the second installment in the Lucifer franchise.

Prithviraj Sukumaran unveiled the trailer of Empuraan at midnight on March 20, 2025. In the caption, the Lucifer director-actor, who is known for his way with words, wrote: “Remember..it’s YOU who summoned the DEVIL at this hour!” 

The Empuraan trailer takes us back to the characters who were first introduced in Lucifer with a voiceover of PK Ramdas saying that his children are not his successors but that those who follow him are his children. The trailer then cuts to show Tovino Thomas as Jathin Ramdas, who declares that those who tried to undermine PK Ramdas were not the enemies who confronted him directly. We are also introduced to new cast members of Suraj Venjaramoodu as the politician, and Nikhat Khan (Aamir Khan’s sister) as Subhadra Ben. Manju Warrier (Priya Ramdas) talks about the value of a human life, as the trailer goes into action mode.

The drug cartels and Jihadi groups are generally against K-A (Khureshi Ab'raam), we are told, and Mohanlal makes a mass entry. Jathin Ramdas voices the audience's question that there is something about Stephen Nedumpally that we don't know. More characters such as Jerome Flynn make a mark in the trailer, and it is only well after the halfway mark that Prithviraj Sukumaran appears as Zayed Masood.

As the trailer heads to a pulsating climax, we get more scenes of Mohanlal and Prithviraj together. Indrajith Sukumaran, who plays whistleblower Govardhan, urges Stephen, the savior, to return to God’s own land but with the one question – who are you? And Mohanlal replies Lucifer!

Overall, the Empuraan trailer promises the second installment will be a riveting thriller with terrific action sequences and a twist-filled plot that focuses on power, greed, and vengeance.
