With just one day left for Mohanlal’s Empuraan to hit the theatres worldwide, the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial has received a special shoutout from none other than Mammootty. While conveying his best wishes to the second installment in the Lucifer franchise, the Malayalam megastar exuded hope that Empuraan would make the Malayalam industry proud. A day ahead of Empuraan’s release, Mammootty took to social media to wish the L2E team 'a historic victory'.
“Best wishes to the entire cast and crew of #Empuraan for a historic victory! Hope it crosses boundaries across the world and makes the entire Malayalam industry proud. Rooting for you, Dear Lal and Prithvi,” Mammootty wrote on social media along with a poster of Mohanlal and Prithviraj.

Empuraan director Prithviraj reposted Mammootty’s message for his team, and thanked the Malayalam megastar for the wishes. He wrote, “Absolutely nothing more special than wishes from the Patriarch of Malayalam cinema!”
Fans appreciated Mammootty for rooting for Mohanlal, who has also been a part of his journey in the Malayalam film industry for decades. Malayalam’s biggest stars have acted in many films together, several of which went on to become blockbuster hits.
Fans dropped heart emojis below Mammootty and Prithviraj's posts, and also wished the best for the Empuraan team. Fans appreciated the 'great gesture' from Mammootty, while others reminded fellow netizens that 'this is the Malayalam industry'.
Both Mohanlal and Mammootty are currently working on a Mahesh Narayanan film, which started filming last year in Colombo. Tentatively titled MMMN, the film features an ensemble cast, including Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Darshana Rajendran, Revathy, Siddique, and Renji Panicker.
Meanwhile, Empuraan is set to hit theatres on March 27, 2025. The first show for fans will start at 6am on Thursday and the expectations are high from Prithviraj, who delivered a blockbuster hit with the first Lucifer part in 2019.
