The eagerly awaited first look from Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's latest film, Empuraan, has been released. The makers of the film just shared this exciting update on their social media handles. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan is the sequel to the 2019 hit Lucifer, which also had Mohanlal in the lead role. The film also stars Manju Warrier and Tovino Thomas, who reprise their roles from the first part of the franchise.

Sharing the first look poster for L2E-Empuraan, the makers of the film wrote on social media, "As you soar, the devil watches from the heights.” Prithviraj shared the same poster and wrote, “3rd directorial of #PrithvirajSukumaran. 2nd part of the franchise. 1st look. Presenting the much awaited 1st look of #L2E - #EmpurAAn.”
The L2E (which stands for Lucifer's sequel, Empuraan) team also teased with the line a "whole new level of power play", as Empuraan has an intriguing saga. The poster for the film showcases Stephen Nedumpilly (Mohanlal) holding a rifle in his hand as he looks at a combat helicopter approaching him. The poster looks intriguing and has fans eagerly waiting to learn more about Stephan’s evolution to Khureshi Ab'Raam.
Cast and crew of L2E- Empuraan
Produced jointly by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions, this sequel marks Lyca Productions' debut in the Malayalam film industry. As part of a trilogy, Empuraan is set to release in several languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, broadening its impact across a diverse audience.
Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran also play pivotal roles in Empuraan. Murali Gopi returns as the screenplay writer, while the reunion of cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev and composer Deepak Dev further confirms that Empuraan is a star-studded project.
The story of Empuraan
Lucifer was set in the complex world of Kerala's politics. It narrated the story of Stephen Nedumpally, played by Mohanlal, who tries to protect his foster father's family from a series of challenges. In the climax of Lucifer, it was revealed that Stephen is actually Khureshi Ab'raam, a mastermind who is part of the international mafia.
The sequel, Empuraan, delves deeper into who Stephen Nedumpilly is, exploring the transformation that led him to become Khureshi Ab'Raam, the formidable leader of an expansive international crime organisation.
