As soon as the initial screenings of Emergency were over, netizens took to X (formerly Twitter) and lauded Kangana's work. Her uncanny resemblance to PM Indira Gandhi has been loved by the audience. Even other actors are being praised for their powerful performances. One user wrote, "#Emergency has been watched and my god #KanganaRanaut the actor that you are! I can safely say after watching the movie an actor like you comes once in a million years. I could only see only Indira Gandhi and not Kangana anywhere. The movie is technically brilliant! There is so much detailing that has gone through in every aspect but I would especially like to commend the cinematography which is at par with any international movie based on politics! In terms of performance Mahima Chaudhry gives a subtle understated performance in a small yet effective role but it's the late Satish Kaushik who was the scene stealer for me! Rest of the cast also support ably. The acting by everyone is top notch."
