A new ruling has come on Kangana Ranaut's Emergency release date. The film, which has been stalled for a while now, will see further delay. A decision for the same is expected to be made on September 25. Bombay HC demanded the Central Board of Film Certification to either pass a certificate or state out loud if they do not wish that the film be released.
Advocate Venkatesh Dhond argued on behalf of Zee Studios that the release for Kangana Ranaut's Emergency is stalled because of the Haryana elections, which will take place in October. He alleged that the members (BJP) wish for Emergency to be released in theatres only after the elections are over. Dhond argued that being a BJP member herself, Kangana has no intentions of hurting certain communities that belong in the ruling party.
When Justice Colabawalla questioned if they wish to thwart a film if their own member, Dhond explained about the Sikh community raising objections to the film, and how the MP Kangana Ranaut was asked to 'maintain discipline'. Colabawalla explained how his community (Parsis) are made fun of in almost every film, but they laugh along over considering it against the community.
Dr. Abhinav Chandrachud, who appeared on behalf of CBFC, submitted that the board has not come to a final decision on the film's certification. Colabawalla pointed out that the film isn't a documentary and that the makers have creative freedom. While stating so, the bench asked the board to decide whether the movie would release or not by September 25. "Have the courage to say that the film should not be released," Colabawalla underscored, adding that the court will decide the issue even if CBFC tells them that the film should not be released. With that, the court was adjourned for the next hearing to be held on September 25.
