Emergency Box Office Collection Day 7: The post-pandemic box office journey for Kangana Ranaut has been unfortunate, with no significant redemption in sight. Her latest release, Emergency, which she directed and stars in, was expected to revive her track record but has failed to do so. The film, centered on the life of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the Emergency period, has completed a week at the box office. However, the report card isn't promising, as the movie hasn't come close to the week-one collection of Jigra, let alone surpass it.

Emergency Box Office Update

Starring Kangana Ranaut, Emergency was released on January 17, 2025. The movie features Kangana alongside Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, and an ensemble cast. According to Sacnilk, the film earned only ₹1 crore on both the sixth and seventh days of release. This brings its total domestic box office collection to ₹14.4 crore—less than half its budget, despite its relatively large scale.

To put this into perspective, Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt, was deemed a flop last year due to poor box office performance. However, it managed to earn ₹22.45 crore in its first week, meaning Emergency fell short by ₹8 crore in comparison. Below is the day-wise breakdown for Emergency's first seven days:

Emergency Was Banned In Amritsar & Other States

The release of Emergency has been halted in Patiala, Amritsar, and Bathinda, which has undoubtedly impacted its earnings. This decision follows communications from local authorities citing concerns about potential protests and possible disruptions to public order.

Reports suggest that this precautionary measure might extend to other cities i n Punjab as well. Local administrations in these regions believe the film's narrative could provoke unrest among certain groups, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and public order given the film's sensitive content.
