Ellen DeGeneres has taken up gardening…she’s got chicken, she says, adding quickly that the other notable event that’s happened in her life is that she got kicked out of show business. And that’s how standup comedian and former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres sets the tone for her upcoming standup special For Your Approval, a first look of which she revealed, ahead of its streaming date.

Ellen DeGeneres For Your Approval to release on THIS date

Ellen DeGeneres For Your Approval, the second of a two-special deal that she had with Netflix, will come to the streamer on September 24 at 1.30 pm. For Your Approval comes six years after her last special, Relatable, which in turn was her first in 15 years.

More details about Ellen DeGeneres For Your Approval

The promo of the special mentions that For Your Approval will be her final standup special – it’s not clear if that is meant to be her last for Netflix or last ever. However, when For Your Approval was announced, Ellen had reportedly said it would be her last and that it would be very personal. If the promo is anything to go by, Ellen will take a deep dive into how she came to be the ‘Be Kind girl who wasn’t kind, after all’, in her signature style.

She says in the promo, “I’m a comedian who got a talk show and I ended the show every day by saying, ‘Be kind to one another.’ Had I ended the show by saying, ‘Go fuck yourselves,’ people would have been pleasantly surprised to find out I’m kind.”

For the uninitiated, the Ellen DeGeneres show had to be canceled after 19 seasons and over three thousand episodes, following allegations of toxic workplace culture on the set. Ellen has been quoted as saying that the allegations alone did not bring about the decision to end the show, although they impacted her personally.
