It turns out that Ektaa Kapoor has now decided to capitalize on this nostalgia. According to reports, the Balaji head honcho is planning to bring Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi back to television. However, instead of simply re-airing the original show, she is reviving the IP with the same set of actors in a fresh storyline—this time, for a limited run.

According to a Pinkvilla report, the revival is currently being developed under tight wraps. Though it is not officially branded as Season 2 yet, Ektaa Kapoor is working on bringing back Amar Upadhyay and Smriti Irani as Mihir and Tulsi Virani. The new version will feature a fresh narrative while retaining the heart and essence of the 2000s show. The production is already in full swing, but the makers are keeping details under wraps for now.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that former Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, has already begun preparing for her return to television and acting. She is rigorously working toward reprising her iconic role. Additionally, Amar Upadhyay has reportedly taken an early exit from a show he was working on, sparking speculation that he did so to focus on Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi's revival.

The original series was co-produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Telefilms. Sources suggest that the revival of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi will be officially announced by Ektaa Kapoor and her team in June 2025, as they are working relentlessly to bring it to life.
