Akshay Kumar, often known to release a film on Republic Day, has come out with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan opposite Tiger Shroff, on Eid. His last movie to release on the festival was Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which became a massive hit. Early reports of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan are out and they appear to be at par with Bhool Bhulaiyaa success from 2007. The movie is among one of Akshay’s noted films till date (even though Kartik Aaryan has replaced him in the franchise now).
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan expected Box Office
It appears that Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, will earn between Rs. 17-20 crores on day one itself. The movie, as per KoiMoi, is likely to mint over Rs. 50 crores over the first weekend. It has earned Rs. 7 crores in advance Box Office collections, after selling over 1.8 lac tickets.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa Box Office
Bhool Bhulaiyaa, released in 2007, had earned approximately Rs. 50 crores at the Box Office. The film had opened at Rs. 3.88 and BMCM has easily crossed the collection through advance booking itself. Bhool Bhulaiyaa had minted Rs. 15 crores on its opening weekend and was in theatres for nine weeks straight. Considering the current buzz of the Akshay-Tiger starrer, it is likely to be at par with what Bhool Bhulaiyaa was in its time. Made on a budget of Rs. 35 crores, the Vidya Balan starrer had made 57% profit within the nine weeks of its Box Office run. The same is expected from Akshay’s latest Eid release.
Akshay’s recent run at the Box Office
Unfortunately, Akshay Kumar has been facing a dry run at the Box Office since a long time. His last hit was Good Newzz, which released in 2019. OMG 2, co-starring Pankaj Tripathi, had a decent run at the Box Office and mainly suffered owing to competition with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 (which in turn became one of the highest grossing films of the year). Akshay had three releases in 2023 – Selfiee, Mission Raniganj and Ram Setu, all of which did not work as expected despite being festival releases.
