The last month in the superhero realm has been about smelling the coffee and taking major steps to rise in the league of successful studios yet again. As for Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka MCU, the chaos has been evident with the studio shuffling their entire calendar and postponing things to make them even better than what they already thought was best when they announced. While the film calendar has gone for a toss with only Deadpool 3 left in 2024, the streaming calendar for Disney+ also seems to have been affected in a big way.
In 2022 and 2023, we saw Marvel Studios churning out content at light speed with two mediums now handy to them: the big screen and streaming. But they also suffered a big blow as the audience rejected almost more than half the content and the decision to run behind quality and not quantity was taken recently. It turns out the decision also applies to streaming, as now we learn that only three shows will hit the streamer from the Marvel realm.
Yes, you heard that right. As of now, there are only three shows from the MCU that we will see hit Disney+ in 2024 under the newly formed Marvel Spotlight banner. Below is a list of the three.
Echo:
Starring Alaqua Cox in the lead role as Maya, the spin-off to Hawkeye is one of the most anticipated shows that will take us into the heart of a character that was the most interesting in the Jeremy Renner starrer show. The series that technically kick-starts the streaming year for MCU will be released on January 10, 2024. Echo has a lot of hopes attached to it and the trailer for the same has been appreciated by many.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries
No other series or film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has undergone as many title changes as this one. A Wanda-Vision spin-off, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, is a unique show that is coming out of Marvel Kitty and the rumours attached to it have already peaked our anticipation. Starring Kathryn Hahn and Audrey Plaza in the leading roles, Agatha will release sometime in 2024. There is no confirmed release date attached yet.
X-Men: The Animated Series, aka X-Men ’97
Marvel Studios is about to introduce their fans to the new dawn with X-Men entering the MCU. The Marvels were the beginning of the penetration and the journey only progressed. The studio that is already introducing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 is also planning to establish the mutants with an animated series on the streaming front. Based on X-Men ’97, the series will hit Disney+ in 2024. No date has been announced for the same yet.
