Several screens allocated to Eagle are expected to go to Naa Saami Ranga, Guntur Kaaram

From the very beginning, major Telugu producers in the industry have been expressing their concerns that five films releasing for the festive season is not a healthy trend. Nearly a week away from the festive weekend - all films including Saindhav, Guntur Kaaram, HanuMan, Naa Saami Ranga and Eagle have been fighting it out with theatre owners for their screen count over the last few days.
Eagle even managed to wrap its pre-release formalities and was certified U/A yesterday and reiterated its release plans for January 13. However, in a surprising turn of events, reports have emerged that the Ravi Teja starrer will not be arriving in theatres at the box office. The reason behind the decision is unclear but Eagle is now expected to have a solo release for the January 26 weekend.
A majority of the screens allocated for Eagle are expected to go to Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga, which releases on January 14. The distributors across multiple regions have received confirmations about the postponement and Eagle producers have asked them to go ahead with their plans for the theatre allocation, a report by Andhra Box Office stated.
However, a majority of Mass Maharaja’s fans are clearly unhappy with the last-minute development, terming it ‘injustice’, while some believe it’s an ideal decision to go ‘solo’ after a debacle like Tiger Nageswara Rao (alongside Bhagavanth Kesari) in October last year.
A few days ago, Dil Raju shared that if any of the five releases opt out of the Sankranthi season, the film would get a solo release on a different date, he promised as the head of the Producer’s Council. Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, Eagle also features Kavya Thapar, Anupama Parameswaran, Navdeep, Srinivas Avasarala, Madhoo and Vinay Rai in key roles.
