Boney Kapoor recently revealed that Raj Kapoor didn't touch alcohol during the final stage of his films. The producer said the legendary figure was fond of drinking.

Producer Boney Kapoor paid a heartfelt tribute to Raj Kapoor on his 100th birth anniversary. Kapoor shared his fond memories of his time with the legendary figure. He reflected upon the highs and lows of Raj Kapoor's career. In an interview with SCREEN, the veteran producer opened up about Mera Naam Joker and how the showman gave up on alcohol during the final edit of his films.
Boney Kapoor recalled that showman Raj Kapoor's film, Mera Naam Joker, didn't perform well initially. However, the film picked up well later and became a money spinner in the re-rounds. The legendary filmmaker re-edited the film.

"A person who was so fond of drinking, he used to give it up when the film was in its final stage. He never used to touch alcohol during that period, till the copy was out. The entire post-production period used to go without him drinking. I was the privileged one who he used to share his most expensive alcohol with, so I know about this really well," revealed Boney.
He remembered Raj Kapoor as the only filmmaker, actor, and producer who lasted for five decades. Moreover, he gave a blockbuster film in each decade. According to Boney, the showman caught up with trends, created trends, and even changed with time.
"He used to eat, drink, and sleep only his films. There is nobody like him, and there never will be. He grew with every decade, and that made him a legend. Prem Rog, Bobby, every film was different and so many were ahead of his time. A lot of his thoughts are my thoughts now," shared Kapoor.
In his career, Raj Kapoor directed several movies like Shree 420, Barsaat, Sangam, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Bobby, Mera Naam Joker, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Prem Rog and more.
