Moments ago, the much-awaited title of Vijay’s next was announced and it’s called Bheema. The highlight of the announcement, though, was that this too is a film that has been written by the actor, which he will direct as well. The film will see him reunite with music man Charan Raj and dialogue writer Maasthi yet again after Salaga.
In October last year, Kannada actor Duniya Vijay finally made his directorial debut, when Salaga opened in theatres more than a year after it’s initial release plan. Vijay, who rose to fame with gangster stories, chose an underworld tale to turn director, an effort that audiences widely appreciated. With Salaga, Vijay not only firmly announced his arrival as a filmmaker, but it also opened doors for him in neighbouring industries. Shortly after the release of Salaga, the actor was picked to play the antagonist in Nandamuri Balakrishshna’s as-yet-untitled NBK 107.
The question back home, since then, was about the next Kannada project Vijay would do. Will it only be an acting commitment, or will he take to the director’s chair yet again. Two days ago, the actor-director partially answered that by announcing his next as leading man, an untitled project nicknamed VK28, given that it is his 28th film as leading man, since his 2007 transition to hero with Duniya.
A poster featuring a partial shot of a man on a motorbike with a bloodied hand announced VK28 and that it was being backed by Bairagee maker Krishna Sarthak and Jagadeesh Gowda. This was followed by a promise to announce the title of the film on March 1, on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
And now we now, it’s Bheema after Salaga for Duniya Vijay.
