Dune 2 makes its streaming debut but with a twist

Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve's ambitious sci-fi drama Dune: Part Two is now available for streaming . However, you will have to either buy or rent it on streaming platforms to watch or re-watch the blockbuster, which has emerged as the biggest hit in the franchise. In India, Dune 2 is available for rent on Amazon Prime Video and BookmyShow Stream.

Dune 2 is still running successfully in cinemas and has outearned its predecessor, Dune (2021). While the first film in Denis Villeneuve's cinematic interpretation of Frank Herbert's iconic series earned a little more than $430 million gross, Dune 2 has already earned more than $700 million.

The early streaming access will further increase the profits of the producers before it lands on Max, Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming service, formerly called HBO Max. In India, the film will become available for streaming on JioCinema.

Plot of Dune 2

Dune is based on Frank Herbert's first instalment in his beloved series Dune. Denis Villeneuve has remained very loyal to the book, making two movies to cover the full plot of the first Dune book.

Dune ended with the deadly attack on House Atreides in Arrakis, resulting in the death of Leto Atreides. Paul Atreides and Lady Jessica escape the slaughter and take refuge with the Fremen. The second part picks up right where the first film ended. Paul learns the ways of the Fremen and soon becomes one of them, fulfilling the prophecy. In the ensuing events, Paul abandons his hesitations and fully embraces his reputation as Lisan al Gaib, the messiah from another world.

This marks a significant evolution in Paul's character arc and creates conflict with his love interest, Chani, a rational-thinking Fremen, who foresees the danger of hero-worshipping and superstitions.
