The past decade, on September 7, every Mammootty fan, apart from celebrating the megastar’s birthday, also wait anxiously for his son Dulquer Salmaan’s social media post. Over the years, Dulquer has shared some heartwarming messages, but this year’s seems to top all of that.

Laced with his usual adorable hashtags, #mydaddystrongest and #fanboyfirst, this time Dulquer’s birthday wish to Mammootty was about the person that the King of Kotha star has come to be – with the megastar obviously playing a huge role.

The actor wrote that during his childhood, all he wanted to become was like his father. This emotion also carried over when he forayed into acting – a field his father has mastered over the past five decades to become the country’s finest artiste. “When I became a father, you were everything I wanted to be,” he wrote, adding that he hopes one day he could even achieve half of what his father is.

Celebs chime in to wish Mammootty on his birthday

Dulquer’s post has already got fans and celebs talking. Kalyani Priyadarshan, who had co-starred in his movie Varane Avashyamund, also took to the post's comment section to wish "the coolest and most bossest people in the world (sic)". Manoj K Jayan, Arun Kurian and Dulquer's King of Kotha co-star Shabeer Kalarakkal also joined to wish the megastar on his birthday.

Several other celebrities including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Nivin Pauly and Unni Mukundan have put up posts, wishing the Rorschach actor on his 72nd actor.

Mammootty’s upcoming projects

The team of his latest project, Bramayugam, also released his character poster from the film, which is a horror-thriller that also has Arjun Ashokan as part of the cast.

Dulquer, meanwhile, will be playing a part in Mammootty’s upcoming release – Kannur Squad. Not as an actor, but as the film’s distributor. The movie, which is helmed by Roby Varghese Raj, will have Mammootty playing a cop. Kannur Squad is currently set to hit theatres on September 28.
