Almost two years after announcing Sita Ramam, Telugu filmmaker Hanu Raghavapudi has completed shooting the film, which has Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandanna. The team wrapped up the shoot in Hyderabad a few days ago.

The film, which is a period romantic drama set in the 1960s, marks Dulquer’s second straight Telugu movie after the acclaimed Mahanati. Dulquer plays Lieutenant Ram in the movie, which has an army backdrop and was also filmed in Kashmir last year.

Mrunal, whose upcoming release in the Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey, plays Dulquer’s romantic pair Sitain Sita Ramam, which is backed by Priyanka Dutt. Rashmika’s character Afreen was revealed earlier this month through a teaser from the movie. The film will be released in theatres in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi, as per current plans.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Hanu talked about working with Dulquer in the film. “He just lived in the role of Lieutenant Ram. I don’t think there’s another actor we can imagine playing that role now. I am sure when the audience watches the film in theatres, they would feel the same way we did while shooting the film,” said the director, who had earlier helmed Padi Padi Leche Manasu.

Dulquer had also wrapped up shooting for his webseries debut Guns and Gulaabs recently. The Netflix series, which is helmed by Family Man creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, also has Rajkummar Rao and Gourav Adarsh as part of the cast.

The Malayalam star already had two releases this year – with the Malayalam investigative thriller Salute that is streaming on Sony LIV and the Tamil romcom Hey Sinamika, which is available on Netflix and Jio Cinema.

Dulquer is next expected to begin shooting for Soubin Shahir’s Othiram Kadakam, which is touted to be an entertainer and is also produced by the Kurup star.
