It seems that those awaiting Soubin Shahir’s directorial with Dulquer Salmaan will have to wait longer. The duo was set to collaborate for Othiram Kadakam, which was also to be produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films. But now reports suggest that the project has been put on the backburner for now.

Soubin had begun the pre-production works of Othiram Kadakam, which was announced by Dulquer on his birthday last year. The movie was scheduled to go on floors in June-July, but now a source from the team tells us that the film has been put on hold. The team had incidentally even looked at locations including Pondicherry to begin its shoot.

Dulquer would now start shooting for Abhilash Joshiy’s King of Kotha, which has been moved up. The upcoming gangster action-entertainer, which is also produced by the star, is set to go on floors in August and is scripted by Porinju Mariam Jose’s Abhilash N Chandran. The film marks his first Malayalam project this year. Aishwarya Lekshmi and Chemban Vinod Jose are some of the names doing rounds as being part of the cast, but an official announcement is expected soon.

The actor has been busy with his Telugu-Malayalam-Tamil trilingual Sita Ramam, which is helmed by Hanu Raghavapudi and has Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandanna as part of the cast. The period romantic drama, which was shot extensively in Kashmir, has him playing Lieutenant Raghu Ram and is set in the 1960s. The movie will hit theatres on August 5.

During the teaser launch of the movie last week, Dulquer had said that the film is visually spectacular and has a great storyline. He also explained it was a memorable movie to be part of as it had locations across the country.

The actor also completed shooting for R Balki’s Chup: Revenge of the Artist, which is an experimental thriller. His web series debut Guns and Gulaabs, which is helmed by The Family Man creators Raj and DK, is also set to release later this year. The series, set in the 90s, also has Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav in the lead roles.
