Dulquer Salmaan will return to the big screen after more than a year with two subsequent projects: the massy action movie King of Kotha and the comedic criminal thriller series Guns & Gulaabs.
As the actor is on a promotional spree for his show Guns and Gulaabs, OTTplay got an opportunity to exclusively speak to the actor where he revealed his thoughts on being compared to dad Mammootty, King Of Kotha, massy films and more.
When asked about why it took him so long to say yes to a massy film and if he was scared of being compared to his dad Mammootty, the Karwaan actor said, "I always chased great content and great writing. Initially when I started getting popular, these genre of films started coming to me but I din find anything with substance. So I think, it just kept getting pushed. Now I finally found something, it’s just like one massive thing that I’m doing that I haven’t done before. But I think it’s only trying to seek a balance of substance with all of these commercial helm."
Further talking about King Of Kotha, the versatile actor said, "I think the film length itself to a great story, to the whole friendship saga and the gangster backdrop. Then there’s a lot of happening, it kind of somewhere reminds me of our show (Guns and Gulaabs) because it’s got many characters and everyone’s kind of crucial to the character. Do something I’ve given a lot of time, spent a year working on that film (King Of Kotha), so I’m excited and nervous at the same time."
Guns & Gulaabs, a web series by Raj & DK, known for Farzi and The Family Man, is set in the 1990s and stars Dulquer, Rajkummar Rao, Adarsh Gourav, and Gulshan Devaiah in significant parts.
