Guns and Gulaabs, Lucky Bhaskar, and the dance single in King of Kotha were all the new projects/announcements that fans were treated to on Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan’s birthday on July 28. Now the latest is that Dulquer will be starring alongside Telugu actor-producer Rana Daggubati in a multi-lingual film. Helmed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the project is said to be a content-oriented movie.
The director is known for his debut 2016 feature Nila, which received an award at the Cinequest San Jose Film Festival. Moreover, his documentary series, The Hunt for Veerappan, which is the untold story of the infamous bandit, was released on Netflix on August 4. Additionally, he has also worked as an assistant to director Ang Lee on Life of Pi.
Nothing has been revealed about the plot or other cast members of Kaantha. But rumours suggest that Dulquer will be seen in an all-new avatar in the film.
Rana shared his excitement at collaborating with Dulquer and Selvaraj and said that Kaantha is a unique story. Dulquer shared his enthusiasm about the project by saying that the story of Kaantha is unlike anything the audience has seen in Indian cinema. He also hinted that he has a challenging role in the movie.
According to director Selvaraj, Dulquer’s acting prowess is the highlight of Kaantha.
Bankrolled by Rana's Spirit Media and Dulquer’s Way Farer Films, Kaantha will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi.
Meanwhile, Dulquer’s Guns and Gulaabs will be premiering soon on Netflix. In Lucky Bhaskar, he collaborates with director Venki Atluri, who has helmed films like Vaathi. Dulquer will also star alongside Suriya in Sudha Kongara’s next project after Soorarai Pottru.
King of Kotha, Dulquer's period action movie in which he plays a gangster, is slated to hit theatres for Onam. The lyrical video song Kalapakkaara was released on July 28.
