Among many biggies like Waltair Veerayya, Veera Simha Reddy, Varasudu, Tegimpu, another small film competed for audience’s attention for Sankranthi earlier this year. Kalyanam Kamaneeyam brings together two exciting upcoming actors Santosh Soban, Priya Bhavani Shankar. While Santosh Soban has successfully transitioned from a child artiste to a male lead, the film marked the Telugu debut of the actress, known for her Tamil outings.
Written and directed by Anil Kumar Aalla, the romantic comedy, after its brief theatrical run, is gearing up for its OTT premiere. The feel-good entertainer will stream this weekend on the Telugu OTT platform aha (February 10). The film was produced under UV Concepts, another division of the popular banner UV Creations, that bankrolled biggies like Mirchi, Run Raja Run, Saaho and Radhe Shyam in the recent years.
The film received mixed responses from critics. While most of them praised the film for its unique premise, several opined it lacked the appeal of a big-screen festival release and was too simplistic in its treatment. In fact, most of them labelled it an ideal OTT watch. Going by that statement, one can expect Kalyanam Kamaneeyam to reach out to its target audience in the digital space, as it arrives on OTT days ahead of the Valentine’s Day week.
Kalayanam Kamaneeyam, revolving around the conflicts between a jobless husband and a working wife, had a capable crew in the form of composer Shravan Bharadwaj, while Karthik Gattamneni cranked the camera. Edited by Satya G, the film’s production designer was Raveendar. Krishna Kanth was the sole lyricist for the songs choreographed by Yash and Vijay Polaki. Santosh Soban will next star in Nandini Reddy’s Anni Manchi Sakunamule.
