The epic thriller Drishyam, originally written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal, was remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn, in Tamil with Kamal Haasan, and Telugu with Venkatesh. The movie was well-received all over India, and its sequels went on to become cultural phenomena. Venkatesh and his team later remade Drishyam 2 for the Telugu language from its direct-to-digital debut by Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph. But Ajay Devgn, Kumar Mangat, and Abhishek Pathak, the film's producers, made the bold choice to release the sequel in theatres.

The film became a huge financial success and an instant classic for Ajay Devgn in 2022. It has the distinction of being the highest-grossing Hindi thriller of all time. Now, Pinkvilla has discovered that the makers of the Hindi and Malayalam versions of Drishyam 3 are working together on the film's production. A source close to the production disclosed to the entertainment portal that Jeethu and his team enjoyed the basic core plot that Abhishek Pathak and his team of writers cracked for Drishyam 3. They have taken the idea from the team of Hindi Drishyam and are working towards developing it into a screenplay for Drishyam 3.

The Drishyam (Hindi and Malayalam) production crew is working in parallel to eventually film both films at the same time. The plan is to film Drishyam 3 simultaneously so that it can be released in India on the same day. The Malayalam version, starring Mohanlal as Goerge Kutty, will premiere in Kerala, while the Hindi version, starring Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, will travel throughout the rest of India. Once the script is finalised, the Telugu Drishyam producers may decide to release their version at the same time, according to the source.

The idea is to protect the audience from knowing anything that might ruin the show. As has happened in the past, a certain demographic will have spoiled themselves by watching the early release of Drishyam before it ever premieres. Everyone involved with Drishyam wants to give the viewers a great time without giving anything away. With the conclusion of Drishyam 3, the franchise will come to an end. What's better than having an experience of chills and thrills without having any idea what's next?

Production on Drishyam 3 is scheduled to begin in 2024, with an exact start date to be determined once the script is finalised. Ajay Devgn is getting ready to shoot his subsequent movie with Vikas Bahl in London, which will come after Singham Again.
