Drishyam 2 is finally out on OTT, a month and a half after its successful theatrical run. The film, which is the second instalment in the Drishyam franchise, has had its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video but is only available for rent. The film is likely to be fully accessible in the coming few days for Prime Video subscribers.
While making the announcement, Prime Video shared the poster on their social media pages and wrote, "Time to pick up where we left off. Drishyam 2 now available on #PrimeVideoStore, rent now!"
Abhishek Pathak's crime thriller Drishyam 2 is a follow-up to the 2015 movie Drishyam, which was based on the 2013 Malayalam movie of the same name. Drishyam 2 is also based on the 2021 Malayalam movie of the same name. The movie, which takes place seven years after its forerunner, stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta. In supporting roles, it also has Mrunal Jadhav, Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, and Kamlesh Sawant.
The remake started filming soon after the first movie came out in February 2021, and it was finished that same year. With the inclusion of Khanna and Shukla, all of the actors from the previous film were kept on. The movie's main photography began in February 2022 and was completed in June 2022. Most of the filming happened in Goa, but some took place in Mumbai and Hyderabad as well. Devi Sri Prasad wrote the music for the movie's soundtrack.
On November 18, 2022, Drishyam 2 opened in theaters all over the world to a lot of praise. The screenplay, cinematography, editing, and cast performances received high praise from the critics. The movie made Rs. 100 crore in four days across all markets, and six days after it opened in India, it joined the Rs. 100 crore club. Its global revenue as of December 28, 2022, was Rs. 329.01 crore. It is the 39th highest-grossing Indian movie overall and the third-highest-grossing Hindi movie of 2022.
