The awe inspiring world of dragons is awaiting discovery yet again, this time by a new futuristic group of dragon riders. The trailer for the upcoming animated series, Dragons:The Nine Realms, was unveiled recently.
The trailer shows that the new series, which is inspired by the How to Train Your Dragon film franchise, will follow a storyline independent from the previous films. The series follows the story of a group of students who enroll in a geological institute, situated at the edge of a strange and deep fissure. The institute studies the strange electromagnetic waves that seem to emanate from the deep chasm and the students are warned to keep away from it at all costs. But of course as one would expect, one daring young student finds himself exploring it nonetheless, and making a shocking discovery.
The fissure leads to a hidden world swarming with dragons of all shapes and sizes, all of whom are friendly and welcome the human in their midst, who soon starts making visits along with his equally stunned friends. As the young people start to get closer to the mythical creatures, they are torn between their desire to learn more about them and the need to keep their existence hidden.
The upcoming series’ voice cast features Julia Stiles, Jeremy Shada, Marcus Scribner,Aimee Garcia, Ashley Liao, Lauren Tom, Keston John, Justina Machado and D’arcy Carden. John Tellegen serves as showrunner.
In addition to the upcoming series, the How to Train Your Dragon film franchise has also spawned spin offs such as DreamWorks Dragons and DreamWorks Dragons: Rescue Riders.
Dragons: The Nine Realms will premiere on December 22.
