Double XL posters: Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi are women with big dreams; film to release on THIS date

Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi are all set to give a befitting reply to fat shamers, with their upcoming film, Double XL. Revolving around themes such as body positivity and the negative impacts of fat shaming, the film features Sonakshi and Huma as two working women who bear the brunt of society’s regressive attitude. The makers recently unveiled new posters of the two protagonists in the film,and unveiled the movie’s release date.

The posters were shared by the stars on their official social media handles. They introduce Sonakshi and Huma as Saira Khanna and Rajshri Trivedi respectively. While Saira is a fashion designer who is considered ‘too big’ for the very clothes she designs, Rajshri is a sports presenter whose dreams of being on TV are shattered when people tell her she is ‘too big’ to be on television. But the spunky women make up their minds to not let such regressive attitudes bring them down and stop them from doing what they aspire to do.

Double XL will be released in theatres on November 4, 2022.

The makers had announced the film last year with a quirky teaser, in which the two stars discussed their own experiences with fat shaming that they faced in the industry. They spoke of how people had asked them to lose weight for film roles, and the incessant trolling they were subject to because of their weight. They talked about how important it was to tell the film’s story to make society rethink their regressive attitude towards aft women.

The upcoming film is directed by Satramm Ramani and written by Mudassar Aziz. In addition to Huma and Sonakshi, Double XL also features Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Huma, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Rajesh Bahl, Ashwin Varde, Saqib Saleem, and Mudassar under the banners of T-Series and Wakaoo Films.
