Despite all the noise around his exit as the BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly is determined to contest for the CAB presidential post. Meanwhile, his wife danseuse Dona Ganguly will appear on the stage of the reality show Dance Dance Junior Season 3 on October 22 and 23. While she recently suffered from chikungunya, Dona completed the shooting before falling sick.
Despite her global fame as a celebrated Odissi dancer, Dona prefers to stay away from the limelight. Previously she appeared in Dadagiri several times. However, this is her first time judging a reality show.
Dona, who will judge the show in the Diwali special episode, is awed by the youngsters’ dance performances. Kids like Chitrita and Swarup have won her heart. Dona will not only appear as a judge but will also show a few dance moves. The new promo for the episodes was just dropped on the channel.
In an interview, Dona said, “Bhasan dance is Bengal’s passion. Maharajada (Sourav’s nickname) is also good at the bhasan dance. He dances whenever he is in the mood.” After that, she steps in for the bhasan dance along with Monami Roy and Rukmini Maitra. She is seen interacting with Dev too.
How does she see the youngsters? Dona says in the show, “I did not expect them to be so good. All of them performed very well. I do not know who will be the first, second or third, but everyone is very talented. I think if they keep their dance, then India will not lack trained dancers. The future will be secure.”
The show’s director is Subhankar Chakraborty, who also directed Dadagiri. Hence he shares a very good relationship with Dona. It is Subhankar who persuaded Dona to judge the episode, but Dona does not want to be a permanent judge in any reality show. She said, “It is difficult to give full time to a reality show. I am a bit relaxed now, Sana is also abroad. Everyone knows how busy Maharaj is. After taking care of everyone in the family, handling everything is a bit difficult.”
