When Shah Rukh Khan delivered Don, he ruled the screen and the hearts of the audience. Hence, when makers announced Don 3, fans' reactions to the news with Ranveer Singh in the lead were divided. While some people welcomed the franchise's comeback, others believed Shah Rukh Khan should continue to portray the dashing criminal.
For the uninitiated, Don 3 is one of the most anticipated films and since years, fans have been waiting for the announcement, but, with King Khan in the lead, which did not happen. Film's makers, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, received some backlash as a result of this.
Ritesh Sidhwani, Excel Entertainment co-founder talked about the criticism the makers experience even before a project is out and the significance of casting the right actor. The producer was quoted as saying by indianexpress: “It’s nothing. We will answer that when we come to Don 3. When you see the trailer, you tell me if that guy lives up to what the character [demands in the film]. Now, it’s our job to make sure it happens.”

Director Farhan Akhtar made headlines a few weeks ago by introducing the third entry in his well-liked and eagerly anticipated franchise, Don. Ranveer Singh will play the protagonist character in the movie, which is slated to be a revival of some of his earlier works. The movie's first look teaser, which has Ranveer in a suave avatar, delivering potent lines, and radiating charisma, has already been released. The makers will start filming the movie in 2025. Although the female lead has not been formally announced, Kiara Advani has reportedly been given consideration for the part.
