Don 3: Not SS Rajamouli’s next, but Priyanka Chopra to make her Bollywood comeback with return to her Jungli Billi era?

The last few months for fans of global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas have been about speculating which movie the actor will choose for her Bollywood comeback after a long hiatus from the Hindi film industry. There have been reports about several films, with one prominent rumor casting her opposite Mahesh Babu in global sensation SS Rajamouli’s next magnum opus, touted to be a massive movie. While that was supposed to mark her comeback, a new report now claims she might return with another movie first, possibly reviving one of her most popular franchises. According to the report, Chopra might star in the Ranveer Singh-starrer Don 3, making her Bollywood comeback through the same. 

Priyanka Chopra to Return with Don 3?

You read that right. The uncertainty surrounding Don 3 has kept fans hooked, as every update adds new twists to the behind-the-scenes story of the film. Previously, it was rumored that the movie had been postponed, only for other sources to refute this, claiming the film is very much on track and that Farhan Akhtar is working on it. A new claim now suggests that filmmaker Akhtar has decided to return to the original casting by bringing back Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Interestingly, Don 3 stars Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani in leading roles, along with Sobhita Dhulipala in a reportedly undisclosed role. Amid this, a Hindustan Times report now claims the film might also feature the "second OG Jungli Billi" of the Don franchise, Priyanka Chopra Jonas. While there’s no clarity on the role Chopra would play, if this turns out to be true, fans upset with Kiara’s casting might warm up to the film once again.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas first appeared in the Don franchise in 2006 as Roma, aka Jungli Billi, alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s titular hero, and her portrayal was widely loved. She reprised the role in Don 2 in 2011. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited a third film featuring the OG cast. While Shah Rukh Khan has now passed on the mantle to Ranveer Singh, fans’ expectations may still be met in parts.

Farhan Akhtar on Replacing Shah Rukh Khan

Speaking to News18 recently, Farhan Akhtar discussed replacing Shah Rukh Khan with Ranveer Singh. Akhtar said, “When I first started thinking about doing a Don 3, I obviously thought of writing something with Shah Rukh in it, but somehow we just couldn’t find the right place to take the story. We couldn’t find common ground on it, so that didn’t happen. I decided to rethink what I wanted to do with the film and go back to explore what made Don, Don—that’s when I started writing that. It took on a life of its own, and that required a younger actor. Ranveer (Singh) just felt like the absolutely right guy to go to for it.”
