Disney + upcoming project The Book of Boba Fett is likely to equal The Mandalorian Season 1’s $100 million budget. Lucasfilm has announced a year ago about several new Star Wars heading to the streaming platform in the years to come, along with its latest live-action arriving in two weeks.
Boba Fett marks to be the first spin-off to come from the blockbuster The Mandalorian, and it will pick up on the teaser which was included at the flagship’s season 2 finale. The movie will see Boba and Fennec establishing their hold on Tatooine’s seedy underbelly, further which is likely to be a mystery. It is also expected to have a major plot twist in the second half.
Bringing the big-screen franchise to the small screen doesn’t seem to be an easy job as it involves a great deal of money. Though Disney has not released any accurate figures, THIR report has offered an estimate, which amounts to $100 million. This makes it equal to The Mandalorian season 1, which means fans can expect Boba Fett to have similar production value to the former.

The number is slightly high for a television show. Marvel’s Disney shows has reportedly amounted to $25 million per episode, while the cancelled HBO Game Of Thrones prequel shelled out $30 million for the pilot alone. Amazon’s The Lord of Rings has beaten them all and is standing out to be the most expensive show of all time, costing upto $465 million for the first season. When Boba Fett’s $100 million is divided across the seven episodes, which amounts to $14 million per instalment, it seemingly weighs nearly as costly as the others.
