Satish Vegesna, who completed 25 years as a writer, director in the industry, has made a name for himself with family entertainers like Shatamanam Bhavati, Entha Manchivadavu Ra, Srinivasa Kalyanam, to name a few. While his two upcoming directorials - Sri Sri Sri Raja Vaaru, Kothi Kommachi - are yet to see the light of the day, he’s now decided to turn a producer for a film titled Katha Keli.

The film’s teaser was launched in the presence of the cast, crew of the project, producer Dil Raju, Harish Shankar and others. At the event, the filmmaker spoke of the reason behind the move to produce, direct his own film. “It has been 25 years since I entered the industry and saw my name on the screen with Priya O Priya. I feel blessed to have lasted so long here.”

Apparently, the filmmaker asked director EVV Satyanarayana about the reason behind starting his own banner EVV Cinema. The latter had told him it was born out of a necessity. “When our films don’t do well, producers don’t back us and even if he does, artistes don’t come forward to star in it. Success or failure, we need to back ourselves when we have our own banner,” he apparently told Satish.

Taking inspiration from EVV Satyanarayana, with whom he worked from Hai till his last film Buridi, he decided to produce his own directorial under a banner named after his award-winning film Shatamanam Bhavati. Katha Keli, he says, is a concept based film that he started when two of his projects faced release issues during COVID-19. It’s a story where the protagonists narrate stories to ghosts.

Though the concept may sound new, Katha Keli will be a nostalgic ride for family crowds. It is a horror comedy that’ll definitely connect with the younger lot, entertain them. He thanked the cast, crew of the project whose release date will be announced shortly. Yashwin, Dinesh Tej, Ajay, Baladitya, Poojita Ponnada, Nandini, Ayushi, Preethi, Eesha Rebba, Ananya Nagalla, Virat play key roles.
