Prathap Joseph, the Malayalam director/cinematographer and journalist, has requested Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to watch the recently released film Nila in theatres. Nila is one of the four films produced by KSFDC (Kerala State Film Development Corporation) as part of the women empowerment initiatives of the government. Prathap, in his Facebook post, pointed out that the Chief Minister and the Cultural Affairs Minister have not yet watched any of the four films in theatres. The director also requested the ministers to watch the film as the gesture would encourage and support such initiatives.
Earlier, it was reported that the Chief Minister watched Rajinikanth's film Jailer in theatres along with his family. Now, Prathap has come forward with a social media post sharing the news of the Chief Minister watching Jailer, along with a poster of Nila.
Full version of the Facebook post:-
'While respecting the Chief Minister's movie choices, I should say something about the four films released as part of the state government's initiative to encourage women's empowerment. The films were bankrolled by KSFDC, with its posters bearing the faces of the Chief Minister and the Cultural Affairs Minister. Nila, the recently released out of the four films is currently running in theatres. As far as I know, neither the Chief Minister nor the Cultural Affairs Minister has watched these films in theatres yet. (please correct me if I'm wrong). If these people watch the films, it would be an encouragement for these kinds of initiatives. We cannot force the Cultural Affairs Minister, who has not watched a movie in 20 years, to watch Nila. Instead, I request that the Chief Minister watch Nila in theatres with his family.'
Nila is a family drama helmed by Indu Lakshmi starring Shanti Krishna, Ananya, Vineeth and Madhupal. Nila is a female-oriented movie that revolves around the life of a retired gynaecologist after she encounters an accident. The film which is currently running in theatres has only minimal shows in Kerala.
