Dino Morea, who won our hearts with his chocolate boy avatar in the 2002 horror-romantic film Raaz, recently revealed that he took a break from acting a few years ago. The actor was last seen as a ruthless ruler Shaybani Khan in Disney+ Hotstar's latest show, The Empire, which also has Kunal Kapoor, Shabana Azmi and Drashti Dhami in pivotal roles.

According to Pinkvilla, the Gunaah actor revealed he took a conscious decision to stop acting in 2010 because the roles coming his way were terrible. Dino also informed the portal that he enrolled himself in an acting school in Delhi during his sabbatical from Bollywood. “From 2013, I started pushing myself again by approaching producers and directors, but nothing great came my way. I held back and waited for the right opportunity,” he added.

Meanwhile, the actor also mentioned to Pinkvilla that saying no and working on himself has paid off and he wishes to grab something interesting in his career now. Talking to the online portal about how The Empire happened, the Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee actor said he met director Nikkhil Advani some time back and expressed his willingness to work with him, while the filmmaker came back to him with the role of Shaybani Khan for The Empire. “I felt it's an opportunity that cannot be missed and could give me a new lease of life. I grabbed it with all my might and just could not let it go,” added the actor.

Dino has been seen in multiple OTT projects in the past 2 years including the Alt Balaji and ZEE5’s Mentalhood that has Karishma Kapoor in the lead role, the 2020 crime-thriller show Hostages on Disney+ Hotstar and Saif Ali Khan’s web series Tandav on Amazon Prime Video.
