On this special day, actress Kajol Devgn – who played a lead role in the film, dropped a special message for her fans and well-wishers. Taking to Instagram, Kajol dropped a short video wherein she can be seen wearing a beautiful lemon-coloured saree which appears to slightly resemble her green traditional attire from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
“Still wearing green but maybe not the same shade.. 28 years later #DDLJ belongs to you guys… All our fans and people who have made it a legacy that lives on far beyond what we could have ever imagined. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, a 1995 musical romance film, marks the directorial debut of Aditya Chopra and is produced by his late father, Yash Chopra. Released on October 20, 1995, the movie features the stellar duo of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The storyline follows Raj and Simran, two young non-resident Indians, who discover love on a European vacation with their friends. Raj endeavors to win the approval of Simran's family for their marriage, yet her father has already promised her hand to a friend's son. Filming took place in India, London, and Switzerland, spanning from September 1994 to August 1995.
Boasting an estimated total gross of ₹2 billion, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge clinched the title of the highest-grossing Indian film of 1995 and remains one of the most triumphant films in Indian cinematic history.
