Fans of Malayalam cinema are often seen asking actor Dileep and director Johny Antony about the possibilities of a sequel to Dileep’s CID Moosa on social media. The director has now finally opened up about it, saying he has a commitment to the actor.

Talking in an interview with an online media channel, Antony said that Dileep gave the director the chance to make the movie when he was a ‘nobody’, to prove his worth as a filmmaker. He adds that if the actor says he wants to make a sequel, they would start the production the next day, as he and the writers have a commitment towards the actor.

Antony also said that many of the talented actors who were part of CID Moosa are no longer with them and that making a sequel to such a popular movie would be a big task.

Written by Udayakrishna and Siby K. Thomas and helmed by Antony, CID Moosa was a comedy entertainer that came out in 2003. The movie, which now has a cult status in the industry, follows Moolamkuzhiyil Sahadevan, a young man who dreams of becoming a police officer, only for him to choose a different career path and take over a private investigative firm.

The slapstick comedy, which has its blend of action and romance as well, also stars Harisree Ashokan, Cochin Haneefa, Jagathy Sreekumar, Bhavana, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Saleem Kumar, Sharat Saxena and Ashish Vidyarthi.

Johny Antony, who has directed 10 movies in his career, has also worked with Dileep in Kochi Rajavu and Inspector Garud. Antony, who last helmed Thoppil Joppan starring Mammootty in 2016, is now trying his hand in acting.
