Didi Number 1: Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to participate in Rachna Banerjee’s show

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee will be taking part in Zee Bangla’s reality show Didi Number 1. Sourav Ganguly’s wife and eminent dancer Dona Ganguly will also take part with her. The shooting will be held next Wednesday.

The show’s anchor Rachna Banerjee recently met Mamata Banerjee and invited her to take part in the show. Mamata gave consent. Then the shooting preparations started. The shooting will be held on February 21. That day, Mamata was supposed to go on a trip to Punjab. But the trip was postponed due to the farmers’ protest. So, if there is no emergency at the last moment, Mamata will come to the shooting. Dona is also supposed to come. Dona previously attended Dadagiri, anchored by Sourav. This is the first time she is taking part in a reality show with ‘Didi’.

There are four contestants in Didi Number One. Veteran singer Arundhati Holme Chowdhury’s name has been considered along with the CM and Dona. For the fourth contestant, the channel is trying to bring another celebrity woman. Kirtan singer and TMC MLA Aditi Munsi, singer Rupankar Bagchi, and Sibaji Chatterjee were asked to sing on the stage.

The channel describes the show as the one that celebrates womanhood all over Bengal. The show portrays their life, work, and struggle, and also the culture and tradition of Bengal. The show is officially described as the stage to participate together in festivity, inspiring one another, and keeping solidarity with one another.

There are several rounds in the reality show. There are awards for the correct answers. Bengali folk and modern songs will be sung and there will be quizzes on them. The first round will be ‘Ami Banglay Gaan Gaai’. The second round will be on the food habits of Bengalis. There will be subjects on phuchka and frying the luchi. Mamata Banerjee was once a phuchka lover, but she is now conscious about her diet. The makers are not sure whether she would eat phuchka on the stage. However, people know that she can fry perfect luchi and make the lechi out of flour. Mamata is a good cook, she cooks at the Kali Puja in her home.

The third round will be on Bengal's sports, fairs, and festivals. The fourth round is named ‘Didira Debe Goal’. Football is a theme there. Then there are the rounds ‘Eso Ma Lokkhi’ and ‘Pujor Alpona’. There will be other rounds on Bengal's sweets, sarees, temples, tourist spots, etc.

The shooting will be held on Didi Number One’s set in the Dumurjala Stadium of Howrah. For security, a special meeting was called in Nabanna. Mamata will take part in an event of Bhasa Dibas on February 21st and from there she will go to the shooting set. Rachna went to the CM with Mamata's brother Kartik Banerjee and invited her. After that, it is rumored that Rachana might get the ticket from the TMC to contest in the parliament election.
