Munna Bhai MBBS starring Sanjay Dutt is one of the best films Bollywood has given us. The Rajkumar Hirani-directed film, which was released in December 2013, became a huge blockbuster right away and continues to be well-liked by viewers today. But did you know that Shah Rukh Khan, not Sanjay Dutt, was Hirani's initial choice for the part of Murli Prasad Sharma, a.k.a. Munna?

On social media, a video of Shah Rukh Khan explaining why he was unable to get involved in Munna Bhai MBBS has surfaced once again. “Munna Bhai, I could not do it because I was injured at that time. I had undergone a spinal operation. I was not sure when I’ll be able to join," SRK said.

Shah Rukh Khan continued by revealing that Raju was making his debut film. Rajkumar Hirani didn't want to wait any longer because it was the beginning of his career. He said, “Raju was making his first film. I was shooting for Devdas when I had signed Munna Bhai MBBS. When I got injured, Raju dialed me from London and asked, ‘When will you do it?’ With due respect, Raju was not a big director. He was making a small film. Waiting for a star was difficult for him."

King Khan also praised Sanjay Dutt during the same interaction, adding that he could never have performed Munna's role as Sanju Baba did. He said, "I do not regret it."

Meanwhile, Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan are currently working together on Dunki, which is now in production. Taapsee Pannu also plays the lead in the movie. It will be released in theatres this December.
