The Night Manager has received praise from viewers, critics, and members of the film community for being on par with earlier works that have received accolades like "binge-worthy," "the best spy thriller," "an absolute treat," "incredibly mounted," and "perfectly adapted," among many others. Disney+ Hotstar has said that the second instalment of their original series, The Night Manager, will be available on Hotstar Specials on June 30, 2023. The first half included a confrontation between Shaan Sengupta (played by Aditya Roy Kapur) and Shelly Rungta (Anil Kapoor), which left the audience members wondering, "What comes next?"

An evergreen star like Anil Kapoor, who is known for his films and characters that are larger than life, is the most iconic hero in the history of cinema. The actor playing Shailendra Rungta is presented in The Night Manager in a way that has never been seen before, even though he is given profound appreciation for each of the characters he has portrayed in the past. As he prepares to take over the globe in this role, fans do take pleasure in watching him since he is refined, fashionable, and a favourite among the masses. However, Anil was hesitant about taking on the role of his first antagonist.

Sandeep Modi, the creator and director of the show, commented on this by saying that when he first asked Anil for the character of Shailendra, he was reluctant to play the villain. Due to the fact that he has often played the role of a larger-than-life hero, he had some reservations about taking on an antagonistic role. However, as he became immersed in the part, he was able to make it his own and add even the most subtle of nuances to his performance. Shelly Rungta was the one who suggested the name of the character and brought a quality of relatability and Indianness to the role. Sandeep concluded by saying that it is reasonable to state that Anil, also known as Shelly Rungta, is among the most heroic villains people have ever seen.
