Vasan Bala's directorial Jigra was one of the most awaited films of 2024 starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina. However, ever since it was released in theaters, the film has been receiving mixed reviews and failed to impress at the box office as well. Bhushan Kumar's wife Divya Khossla accused Alia of showing a fake box office performance of Jigra amid allegations that the film has copied Divya starrer Savi. Now, it seems that the filmmaker has deactivated his X (formerly known as Twitter) account.
The Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina starrer Jigra has underperformed at the box office. Recently, Vasan Bala, the director of the film said in an interview that he doesn't measure the box office as a parameter of success.
However, on Sunday (October 20), Vasan Bala's X (formerly Twitter), which had been active until a day earlier, was deleted. All replies to his previous tweets were shown as empty slots. The message read: 'This account doesn't exist.'
Have a look:
Several X users stated that Bala deleted his account after getting negative vibes due to Jigra's underwhelming performance at the box office.
After screengrabs of his 'absent' profile were shared on Reddit, one user commented, "They promoted it as an Alia Bhatt aka Lady Bachchan movie but wanted him only to take the responsibility for its failure."
Some users also questioned Karan Johar that, when the movie was being promoted, Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina - were front and center alongside producer Karan. But after the film underperformed, Vasan was the only one to give interviews.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reported, Bala reacted the film's box office performance. The filmmaker admitted that he is finding it tough to deal with and also shared that he feels he has disappointed Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt, who backed the film as producers.
According to the poster, Jigra will land on Netflix. This will be the fourth Alia Bhatt project to land on the platform in recent times, following Darlings, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Heart of Stone.
