Did Varun Dhawan pick up Gigi Hadid and kiss her on the cheek without consent? The actor sets the record straight

It was a starry affair on Saturday night when Bollywood celebrities brought the house down with their incredible performances at NMACC launch day 2. Among the performers who entertained the guests throughout were Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan. The latter danced to his popular tracks, including Apna Bana Le from Bhediya and Garmi from Street Dancer 3D. During his Garmi performance, Varun picked up supermodel Gigi Hadid in his arms and also gave her a peck on the cheek.

The video went instantly viral on the Internet, and many called out the actor and accused him of not getting her consent during the act. One of the Twitter users wrote in a now deleted tweet, "If you are a woman, you are not safe anywhere with anyone. Even if you are Gigi Hadid, invited to a party with an "elite" crowd, guys like Varun Dhawan will randomly pick you up and kiss you without your consent, all in the name of fun. Disgusting. (sic)"

However, Varun set the record straight and claimed that it was a pre-planned act. He replied to the user, stating, "I guess today you woke up and decided to be woke. So let me burst your bubble and tell you it was planned for her to be on stage, so find a new Twitter cause to vent about rather than going out and doing something about things. Good morning. (sic)"

Some of the other international stars who came to the event were Penélope Cruz, Tom Holland, and Zendaya. They all attended the event on Saturday evening, and the photos and videos went instantly viral on the Internet.

Talking about Bollywood celebrities, Shah Rukh Khan attended the event with his family; Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas; Ranveer Singh; Alia Bhatt; Salman Khan; Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan; Ayushmann Khurrana; Rajkummar Rao; and others marked their presence.
