The Family Man 2 has given Samantha Akkineni pan India recognition and it seems as if many banners are turning their attention towards Samantha Akkineni. OTT giant Netflix reportedly approached the actress a couple of weeks ago and offered her around Rs.8-10 crores to do a lead role in the series.
Netflix's Baahubali: Before the Beginning (based on Anand Neelakantan’s novel The Rise of Sivagami) with filmmakers Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru had wrapped its shoot but the project was shelved for reasons best known to the streamer. The platform had revived this project recently with another director and a different cast on a bigger scale.
Baahubali: Before the Beginning, which will be released in three parts, will explore the rise of Sivagami and will revolve around her childhood and chart her rise as a queen. It is believed that Netflix wanted a very strong and popular actress to do this role, who could match Ramya Krishnan’s performance in the Bahubali movies.
Samantha, having proved her mettle in The Family Man 2, was a natural choice for Netflix to play Sivagami. The actress has reportedly rejected the offer but it is still not known as to why the Southern diva turned it down. She will next play the lead role in Gunasekhar’s Shaakuntalam. Samantha also has a movie with Nayanthara directed by Vignesh Shivan titled Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal in her kitty.
