S Shankar recently confirmed that he is working on the movie adaptation of the celebrated Tamil novel, Veera Yuga Nayagan Velpari. The senior filmmaker’s announcement left both the Tamil literature enthusiasts and cinephiles, highly excited. However, the filmmaker recently lashed out at the makers of an upcoming film for ripping off scenes from the Velpari novel. The internet now thinks that he is hinting at Devara, the upcoming Jr NTR starrer directed by Koratala Siva.

Recently, the Indian 2 director took to his official social media handles and lashed out at the makers of an unnamed upcoming film. In his post, S Shankar revealed that many scenes of the Velpari novel are being ripped off and used in many films, while he holds the copyright for the same. The celebrated director particularly took a dig at the recently released trailer of an upcoming film, in his post. Shankar further added that he is planning to take legal action against those involved in copyright infringement.

“As the copyright holder of Su. Venkatesan’s iconic Tamil novel "Veera Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari", I'm disturbed to see key scenes being ripped off & used without permission in many movies. Really upset to see an important key scene from the novel in a recent movie trailer,” wrote Shankar in his post. Even though the Enthiran director refrained from revealing the name of the films, the netizens believe that he is hinting at Devara, the upcoming Jr NTR starrerDevara, the upcoming Jr NTR starrer which has been garnering attention lately with its release trailer.

S Shankar’s fans and Tamil cinema audiences have extended support to the director. However, a big group of netizens are now defending Devara and the makers of the film, suggesting that the movie is majorly based on water stunts, while the Velpari novel features a different type of action scenes. Meanwhile, some others have come up with comparisons between Velpari novel scenes and Devara trailers. However, director Koratala Siva and his team have not reacted to the reports, yet.
