Imran Khan recently made headlines as he spoke about his comeback project, Abbas Tyrewala’s series, that is not happening. Imran spoke about why it is not happening and why he is glad that it is not happening, when the actor gave an interview recently. Days after the trend, Jio Cinema has made a new announcement which has everyone curious. They released a teaser announcing something new. Is it them talking about the Disney collaboration?
The video
In the video, a couple is seen getting excited over watching ads, or rather ‘series of ads.’ Of course, it was a sarcastic comment on how OTT platforms use ads when they provide free content to the users. Interestingly, this also applies to Jio Cinema, who loops in ads when there is a show one can watch for free (which is almost any at this point). Right after the ad, Jio Cinema announces that there’s something coming up on April 25. They call it a ‘new plan.’
Is it Disney collaboration?
While one cannot be sure if they are talking about the Disney collaboration, that too is definitely in the works and Jio was expected to announce it sooner or later. Given the current time, it is possible that they do bank on the trend and announce the collaboration and with it, a new subscription plan (although fans are hoping not to look at a premium plan with the platform).
Imran Khan’s comeback series scrapped owing to the collaboration
During his recent interview with Film Companion, Imran Khan revealed that his comeback series, which was supposed to be directed by Abbas Tyrewala, was scrapped owing to the very collaboration. He spoke about how things didn’t work out and the series went on the backburner because the rights were with Disney but they were collaborating with Jio Cinema. However, for Imran, things worked out for the better because he wasn’t too happy to play a spy who solves problems with guns, in the series. The actor’s comeback project still awaits.
