It was exactly on the day and date of July 4, 2008 when the cinegoers were introduced to a mint fresh pairing of two debutante actors in Bollywood in the form of Imran Khan and Genelia Dsouza. The film was none other than the bubble gum romance Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, which was produced by Bollywood’s ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ Aamir Khan alongwith Mansoor Khan. It is exactly 16 years now, when the ‘bubbly-cious’ Genelia Dsouza aka Genelia Deshmukh will be featuring in an Aamir Khan film, which is none other than ‘Sitare Zameen Par’.
The actress today took to social media and posted a life size photograph of a water bottle that had ‘Aamir Khan Films LLP’ printed on it. Genelia, on her part, captioned the same as ‘After 16 years’. Even though Genelia Deshmukh did not ‘reveal’ the name of the film, it's only obvious that she was referring to ‘Sitare Zameen Par’, which is being produced by Aamir Khan Films, the very people who had produced Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. The rest of the details are being awaited.
As for Genelia Deshmukh, even though she is not seen that often on the silver screen, she has been keeping herself busy by doing selective roles. Just a couple of years back, Genelia Deshmukh had not only produced but also had acted in the Marathi film ‘Ved’, which starred her actor husband Riteish Deshmukh and Jiya Shankar. The film turned out to be a huge blockbuster at the box office.
This was followed by Genelia Deshmukh starring in ‘Trial Period’ along with a host of seasoned actors like Manav Kaul, Gajraj Rao, Shakti Kapoor, Sheeba Chadha and Swaroopa Ghosh in important roles. The film, which was streamed on JioCinema, garnered encouraging response from the audience.
As for ‘Sitare Zameen Par’, the film has been billed as a comic entertainer which has many elements of slice-of-life. The film has been reported to be referring to special children. Watch this space for developments.
