In a tragic turn of events, actor-director G Marimuthu passed away on Friday following a cardiac arrest. He was dubbing for a television series when he developed pain in the chest. Even though he was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, he did not survive the cardiac arrest. He was 57.

Following his untimely death, a scene from the popular television soap opera Ethir Neechal has gained widespread attention on the internet. In the scene, Marimuthu's Adhi Gunasekaran talks about the recurring pain in his chest. "I could feel a pressing main frequently in my chest. I am not sure whether the pain is in my body or mind. I feel like this recurring pain is giving me some warning," Adhi Gunasekaran tells another character in the scene.

"I strongly believe that something bad is going to happen. That's why I am getting this pain in the chest," adds Adhi Gunasekaran.

After his passing, many are sharing this particular clip from the serial, suggesting that Marimuthu may have had a premonition of his impending death.

Tamil film industry is in mourning

The Tamil film industry is shocked by the sudden death of Marimuthu. A native of Pasumalai, Theni district, Marimuthu has been part of the Tamil show business for many years now. Earlier, he assisted poet Vairamuthu, who faced several #MeToo allegations, before he began to pursue acting in movies.

After years of struggle, Marimuthu found huge success by portraying the role of a patriarch named Adhi Gunasekaran in Ethir Neechal. It wouldn't be wrong to say Marimuthu's performance was the main reason behind the success of the series.

Marimuthu's popularity reached a new level when he shared screen space with Superstar Rajinikanth in the recent blockbuster Jailer. Marimuthu has played a key confidenet of Varman, the movie's main villain and he got ample screen space to showcase his acting talent.
