Ali Fazal is constantly trying to strike a balance between Hollywood, Hindi films and web series. The first poster for Fukrey 3 has released, and Ali's character, Zafar, is missing from it. The actor explains why he isn't in the film.
In a statement to the media, the actor, who plays a crucial role in Fukrey, said, "So, everyone is curious to know if Zafar is coming back in the new one (film), and I am asked again and again. Sorry my friend, no, not this time. Because Zafar bhai also has to be Guddu bhai at times. At times, the two universes of Guddu and Zafar also overlap. Once a fukra is always a fukra, so am I. However, I won’t be coming on screen for the third outing of the Fukras along with Bholi punjaban and Panditji!"
The actor added that even though he wanted to be part of the much-awaited Fukrey 3, he could not accommodate the shooting schedule of the film alongside the web series, Mirzapur 3. However, he hinted at going back to the Fukrey franchise soon. Ali said, "I will be back in the future at some juncture, maybe sooner than you expect. Zafar will be back after a small detour to entertain you guys!"
The actor was last seen in the Netflix film Ray and the web series Call My Agent: Bollywood. He also played a pivotal part in the Hollywood film Death on the Nile, alongside Galgalot. He will be seen in Vishal Bharadwaj's directorial Khufiya and the Hollywood action film Kandahar. His film, The Underbug, has been showcased at the 2023 Slamdance Film Festival.
Fukey is a comedy franchise, and the first installment of the film released in 2013. Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, it was directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. The second part of the film, Fukrey Returns, released in 2016. The film stars Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, Varun Sharma, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, Priya Anand and Vishakha Singh, among others.
