Diamond Necklace Turns 12 - Reasons to watch Fahadh Faasil, Lal Jose’s film on Sun NXT

Fahadh Faasil established himself as one of the most sought-after talents of Malayalam cinema during the early 2010s, with some well-made films. The National Award-winning actor teamed up with senior filmmaker Lal Jose for the romantic drama Diamond Necklace, which emerged as one of his biggest solo hits. The movie, whcih hit the theatres on May 4, 2012, completed 12 years of its release today. Diamond Necklace is now available for streaming on Sun NXT and OTTPlay Premium.

Fahadh Faasil’s performance

The talented actor impressed cine-goers with his excellent performance as Dr. Arun Kumar, a young oncologist from Kerala who leads a luxurious life in Dubai without caring about the future. Fahadh Faasil portrayed the journey of Dr. Arun and the transformation of the character, which has quite a lot of grey shades, to near perfection.

The hitmaker, who is best known for his films that build an instant connect with audiences, recreated his magic with Diamond Necklace, which is undoubtedly one of his finest films. Lal Jose bid goodbye to his signature style quite a bit for the Fahadh Faasil film, which was equally loved by both the critics and common audiences.

The leading ladies

Unlike most of the previous Lal Jose films, Diamond Necklace featured three leading ladies – Samvrita Sunil, Anusree (in her movie debut), and Gauthami Nair. Samvrita played the role of Arun’s patient-turned-friend Maya, while Anusree played the role of his lady love, nurse Lakshmi. Anusree, on the other hand, appeared in the role of the protagonist’s wife Rajashree, a small-town girl.

Vidyasagar’s music

Lal Jose yet again teamed up with celebrated musician Vidyasagar to create the songs and original score for Diamond Necklace, which is nothing less than magical. Especially the songs ‘Nila Malare’ and ‘Thottu Thottu’, and the theme music of the movie which especially appears in some of its crucial scenes in the second half, still remain iconic.

Supporting cast

Along with Fahadh Faasil, Samvritha Sunil, Anusree, and Gauthami Nair, Diamond Necklace featured a stellar star cast including Sreenivasan, Rohini, Maniyanpilla Raju, Sreedevi Unni, Kailash, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Sukumari, Thesni Khan, Mithun Ramesh, and many others in the supporting roles. The movie is indeed rich with the extraordinary performances by all the actors.
