Dhruva Sarja's Martin vs Yuva Rajkumar's Yuva on the cards? Netizens weigh in

Dhruva Sarja's Martin is among the biggest Kannada releases this year but the film has been in the making for so long that one has been offered almost no clarity on its release date. Interestingly, the film was originally meant to be released on October 30, 2022 (not 2023), but owing to the scale of the project and other factors, the production had to be stretched well beyond the allotted amount of time. 

However, the latest update is that Martin will arrive pre-Christmas this year with December 22 as the set date for the grand release. Neither AP Arjun, the producers nor Dhruva Sarja have officially confirmed this but the actor recently told a news channel that the film will be a 2023 release. So, a formal word is probably around the corner.

But what this does is that it pits one major actioner against another, with Martin now most likely clashing with Santhosh Ananddram and Hombale Films' Yuva at the box office. The latter, of course, is the debut outing of Yuva Rajkumar and the actor is set to make a mega entry into the world of cinema with this film. But with Dhruva Sarja's much-awaited film potentially arriving on the same day, the face-off has evoked interesting reactions from netizens.

"Clash is better as both kannada movies will hold more screens," says one Twitter/X user suggesting that with two major Kannada films on offer, the ultimate winner, too, would be Kannada cinema. The response comes also in the context of the more immediate clash between Ghost and Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B. The same sentiments were echoed by several others who felt its not "Martin v/s Yuva" but "Martin & Yuva".

"@yuva_rajkumar @SanthoshAnand15 Better release ಯುವ movie on December 29th or January 12th 2024," said another user, offering a different perspective on the matter. As a few netizens opined that there's nothing wrong with both films releasing on the same day, the rest felt that one of the two could prove heavy on the other.

'Yuva' also includes Kantara actress Sapthami Gowda with Vaibhavi Shandilya playing the female lead in Martin, with Anveshi Jain, too, playing a role. The makers of the latter are said to be currently engrossed in shooting the songs and one of them will features modela/actress Giorgia Andriani
