Filmmaker Gautham Menon on Monday unveiled the new trailer of his long-delayed movie Dhruva Natchathiram. He was quite upbeat about the way things were progressing as he saw the trailer launch as a step closer to the movie's guaranteed theatrical launch.
"One more small step or a giant leap. It’s all about perspective. Anyway we are marching on!," captioned Gautham.
It looks like the filmmaker wanted to temper the expectations of the viewers with this promo video. Remember, the movie is coming out after a prolonged delay of nearly four years and the global cinematic landscape has significantly evolved during the pandemic.
The distinction between which movie is worthy of theatrical experience and which isn't has grown significantly. The movies that appealed to the theatre-going audiences a few years ago, no longer resonate with them. Given that Dhruva Natchathiram was envisioned and shot before the pandemic, it remains to be seen how it will be received by contemporary viewers.
The latest trailer of Dhruva Natchathiram has been cut to establish the film's premise clearly. It begins with a seasoned security expert explaining his efforts to establish a team of highly skilled individuals called 'Basement'.
The top spy, disheartened by a delayed response during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, devices a plan to form a team capable of functioning effectively without the constraints of bureaucracy. "We will not obey the law. We will not necessarily follow the procedures. And nobody will know our existence," explains the spy.
The highlight of the trailer, however, is not Chiyaan Vikram, who plays the role of uber-cool spy John. But, it's Vinayakan who makes an impression with just a few glimpses. He seems to play the main antagonist in the movie and promises to give the hero a run for his money.
Dhruva Natchathiram also stars Ritu Varma, Radhakrishnan Parthiban, R Radikaa Sarathkumar, Simran, Divya Dharshini, Munna Simon, Vamsi Krishna, Salim Baig, Sathish Krishnan, Maya S Krishnan and others. It's due in cinemas on November 24.
